During bathtime, gus has taken a shine to playing with the nasal aspirator. For those that don't have kids, this is the blue bulb looking thing that ends in a probiscus. Parents usually use them to suck boogers out of wee ones noses before they can blow.
But, let me tell you, the sure do keep a 10 month old amused. For one thing, they make fart noises when you blow out the air underwater. Then, they have all those fun water jets that shoot out when you squeeze them. Of course, Gus doesn't have very complicated tastes.
Whenever he gets any sort of toy or present, he first plays with the wrapping paper, usually attempting to eat it (I guess he needs more fiber). Next, he'll play in the box. Then comes whatever packing material. Note: babies probably shouldn't play with styrofoam peanuts. The cornstarch ones (they dissolve in water) are probably less of a choking hazzard, but I don't think they're nutritionally approved.
Finally, when you've discarded the wrapping, boxes and packing he might get around to playing with the toy. Or he might not. He's just that way.
So, for parents out there: send empty boxes. Sure it feels like you're Monty Hall screwing someone on Lets Make a Deal, but I can assure you that the kids have just as much fun plus it's much cheaper.
Oh, I've got 50 gmail invites. Anyone?
